Welcome to the Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. Come on in and look through our site. We will tell you about our region, our members and our businesses. If you have any questions or need more information we have provided you ways to contact us. We are a growing chamber with 200 members and enjoy being active.
We welcome new businesses and work hard to continue supporting our established businesses.
Our area has lots to do. You can shop, hike, canoe, kayak, enjoy a movie, eat ice cream and relax with a great cup of coffee. Want to take your boat out, or take a day cruise we can help you arrange that. In the winter you can snow shoe, cross country ski and use the snowmobile trails. Reading is important in Maine and our bookstore is first class. Just don’t sit on the cats chair! We have great places to stay and relaxed dining.
The Bucksport Bay Festival, Orland River Day, The Pumpkin Fest in Blue Hill, Searsport’s Fling into Fall, Spirit of the Holidays, Ghostport, The Pirates are Coming are all events to enjoy this year.
There are many opportunities to volunteer and clubs to join. So enjoy your tour of our site and come visit us at 52 Main Street, Bucksport, Maine.

Once again we would like to thank everyone who participated in the Annual Awards Dinner Meeting held at Alamoosook Lakeside Inn in March. Our sponsors this year were very generous and we hope everyone who reads this newsletter will join us in thanking each and every one of them in person. I would also like to thank Cindi Kimball and Kathy Zeman for their wonderful work organizing the event.
Can you believe it that Jim Zeman, Festival Director, has already gotten started on this summer's 15th Annual Bucksport Bay Festival? The big day is Saturday, July 28th, with offsite events rounding out the weekend on both Friday and Sunday. The schedule for this year's events are on our website and is updated as more events are added. It's not too early to sign up for the 2012 Bucksport Bay Festival 5K Fun Run, Saturday July 28th, 2012, which will start at 8:00 am. The Parade will start at 9:30 am. "Bangor Savings / Hannaford Bros." Pie Bake-Off Contest will be at 1:00 pm. Sign up sheets for the 5K Run, the Pie Bake-Off Contest, and the Parade are available on our website or at our downtown office. If you would like to volunteer to help with the Bucksport Bay Festival please call the office and ask for Jim. He'll be happy to sign you up. There are many different ways in which you can help make this year's Festival the best ever for the people of the Bucksport Bay Area.
Speaking of volunteering, I want to mention how very important it is to our community that so many people, despite how stretched they already are, volunteer their talents, their time, and their money. You all make this community a very special place. If you are interested in finding out about volunteer opportunities in this area the Community Resource page on the Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities website lists a number of local agencies and organizations that provide free and low cost support to the Bucksport Bay Area through local donations and volunteer time. I'm sure any one of them would be happy to receive an offer of help.

And of course, if you would like to volunteer to help out at the Chamber office, especially during the busy tourist season, we would love to hear from you too!

Call for Advertisers! Bucksport Town Walking & Trail Map
The Bucksport Town Walking & Trail Map pamphlet is about ready to be reprinted and distributed for the 2012 tourism season. The pamphlet, co-produced by the Town of Bucksport and the Chamber, includes promotional material such as photos and brief descriptions of local attractions, and a limited number of paid advertisements. It's a terrific opportunity for your business or nonprofit organization to get great exposure throughout the year. A minimum of 2,000 copies will be distributed by the Chamber, the Town of Bucksport, and other tourism venues.
The cost per ad is $100, payable when your camera-ready art is provided to the Chamber. To view a PDF file of the previous map click HERE. The deadline is Friday, Wednesday, May 23, 2012. To reserve ad space, available on a first-come basis, contact Leslie Wombacher, email: sundialphotography@netzero.net |

2011 Referral Program
Simply refer a new member to join the BBACC. In order to be "new," they must either have never been a member or have been a non-member for at least 2 years. Once your referral becomes active, you will receive a $25 discount (or refund if you've already paid) toward your membership dues. This offer is valid up to the full amount of your 2011 dues. So get out there and Refer a New Member and Save!
2011 Friend of the Chamber
Do you want to support the Chamber? Do you want to take part in Chamber events, but don't have a business to join under? We have a solution. For 2011, the BBACC has created a "Friend of the Chamber" membership. The $50 membership dues give you (an individual) access to all the chamber activities (business after hours, business breakfasts, annual dinner, golf tournament, christmas party, etc) and give you an opportunity to support the Chamber financially. The membership DOES NOT include business benefits (oil discount program, 24 hour information center, etc). If you would like to join the Chamber as a Friend of the Chamber, please call us today! |
